About Our Winery Winery

In this hectic and crazy world, take a moment to experience a taste of lazy, carefree summer days. Buddha Kat Winery, of Tillamook and Seaside Oregon, lovingly handcrafts wines that not only celebrate the great variety of grapes available in the Pacific Northwest, but also the rich bounty of berries and fruits that Oregonians love. Our award-winning fruit, dessert, and varietal wines maximize the flavor and essence of each wine. We invite you to savor our 96-point Framboise Chocolate port style wine, considered one of the finest wines in the world, or one of our unique blends such as Peach Riesling or Black Rose, or our bright, tart Rhubarb; our luxurious Myrtille port, or more traditional varietal wines like our Merlot with hints of coffee and cocoa. When you need a serene moment, experience Buddha Kat Winery.

our journey

Buddha Kat History History

Packing up two fat Siamese cats, two kids, and one old grandfather we left cold, dark Alaska to the make our way to beautiful Oregon. I discovered a winery for sale and what better way to become a true Oregonian than owning a winery. Figuring I would save more money owning a winery then buying retail, I jumped with both feet and the two fat (buddha) cats into professional winemaking.

Through the years and countless experiments – some of them great, some of them good, and some of them never see the light of day, we have produced internationally award-winning wines and have elevated fruit wines to a higher standard. Our wines are produced from the bounty of fruit grown in the Willamette Valley, Columbia Gorge, and Columbia Valley by vineyards that take pride in developing the select variety to its fullest potential prior to harvesting.

I have always loved the Oregon Coast and after a few years of visiting from Sandy, a shop was available in the middle of Seaside. We opened the tasting room in November since that was the height of the tourist season (not really) but the tasting room has been at 37 N Edgewood for more than eight years. We left the Sandy location once our lease was up, and moved the entire operation to the coast in 2022. Our winery moved to Tillamook near the old Blimp hangar and we maintain our tasting room in Seaside. Tillamook is only open for special occasions but it the winery production area. We also do a number of farmer’s markets including Salem, Beaverton, Astoria, Cannon Beach, Seaside, and Tillamook.
